Miscellaneous

Is entry also possible during the course of a year?
Yes, entry is possible at any time and a pro rata price reduction will be applied.

When is cancellation of membership possible? What notice periods apply?
For hotels, restaurants, B&Bs and agencies, cancellation is only possible at the end of a year and with prior notice of six months. For private or collective members, cancellation is possible at any time, however there is no refund of the annual membership fees.

Must notice of cancellation be submitted in writing?
Yes, by letter or e-mail.

Hotel and B&B

Is membership possible if I only offer rooms to guests during trade fairs and events in the city?
No, for a B&B Basel Tourismus membership, rooms must be bookable all year round (with the exception of absence of the owner for private holidays).

Must B&Bs also charge room tax to their guests and provide them with Mobility Tickets?
Yes, this applies not only to hotels but to all accommodation providers in the canton of Basel-City. All accommodation providers must charge room tax and provide Mobility Tickets.

Where can I get the registration form for room tax?
At the Amt für Wirtschaft und Arbeit (AWA) Basel, central services, Tel. 061 267 99 08.

When does the registration period for the hotel listings expire?
Mid-June of the current year.

Are there different classifications for B&Bs?
At Basel Tourismus there are no classifications for B&Bs.

Does a B&B have to offer overnight accommodation including breakfast?
No, if no breakfast is served the guest must however be offered his own facilities for cooking breakfast (e.g. studio apartment with kitchenette or self-contained apartment).

Companies

Can collective membership only be held by companies?
No, collective membership also applies to institutions, events promoters and organisers, bars and restaurants, foundations and charities.

Restaurants

When does the registrations period for the restaurant listings “Dining in Basel” expire?
Mid-June of the current year.

Private Members

Can non-members also come on the members trip?
Yes, of course non-members can come on the trip. The surcharge will be CHF 60.00, which corresponds to the annual membership fee for private membership.

When do you send the membership cards (voucher booklet)?
Membership cards are sent out immediately upon receipt of payment of your membership fee.
